Privacy policy

Racing Supply Co. is a trade name of SH Design & Performance Ltd., an Alberta corporation ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit racingsupply.ca or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our emails and texts, and our customer support.

Who is responsible for your information

SH Design & Performance Ltd. is responsible for the personal information we hold. Our President is the person in charge of privacy. You can reach them at sales@racingsupply.ca (put "Privacy" in the subject line) or by mail at 5008 50 Ave, Mundare, AB T0B 3H0, Canada.

What we collect

• Order and contact details: your name, billing and shipping address, phone number, email address, and what you order.
• Payment details: your payment is handled by our payment processors. We see the card brand, the last 4 digits, and the payment status. We don't keep your full card number.
• Vehicle details: the year, make, model and engine you give us so we can check fitment.
• Messages: what you send us by email, text, chat or phone, and photos you send us for a claim or a return. Calls to our support line may be recorded or transcribed for quality and our records. Our support desk may use automated or AI assistants to read and reply to messages, and a person can take over.
• Device and browsing information: your IP address, browser, device, the pages you view, what you search for, and how you got to our site. We collect this with cookies and similar tools.
• Identity verification: if we need to confirm an order is yours, we may ask for ID or a photo and use a verification service. We use it only for that check and keep it only as long as the check and any related dispute need.
• Account details: if you create an account, your email and order history.

Why we use it

• To take and fill your order, collect payment, ship it, and handle returns, claims and support.
• To check fitment and answer your questions.
• To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
• To send order updates and, with your consent, marketing emails and texts.
• To understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.
• To keep records we're required to keep, and to meet legal requirements.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with people who help us do the things above, and only what they need:

• Suppliers and carriers: most of our products ship from our suppliers' warehouses. We give the supplier and the carrier your name, shipping address, phone number and email so they can deliver your order.
• Payment and fraud tools: Shopify and its payment processors, PayPal and Affirm when you use them, and fraud screening tools.
• Service providers: tools we use for email and text messaging, customer support, order routing to suppliers, reviews, shipping protection, returns, bot protection and website analytics.
• Collection agencies and advisers: if an order balance goes unpaid or a payment is disputed, we may share the order and contact details with a collection agency, and we share records with our accountants and lawyers.
• Advertising and measurement: Google, Meta and similar platforms, using cookies and pixels on our site, so we can measure ads and show our ads to people who may be interested.
• Legal and business reasons: when the law requires it, to respond to a lawful request, to protect our rights, or in a sale or restructuring of our business.

We don't sell your personal information.

Where it is stored

We and our service providers store and process information in Canada and in other countries, including the United States. Your information may be accessible to courts and authorities in those countries under their laws.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar tools to run the cart and checkout, remember your preferences, measure how the site is used, and measure and target advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the cart and checkout may not work without some of them. To opt out of targeted ads you can use the controls at Facebook, Google and youradchoices.ca. We don't change how the site collects information when your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

Marketing emails and texts

We send marketing emails and texts only with your consent. You can withdraw it at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply STOP to any text. We'll still send you messages about your orders.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Order and tax records are kept for at least 6 years, as Canadian tax law requires. After that we delete or de-identify them unless we need them for a dispute or a legal reason.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent to marketing. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we may keep records the law requires us to keep. We'll respond within the time your province's law requires. To ask, email sales@racingsupply.ca with "Privacy" in the subject line.

If you live in Quebec, you also have the rights Quebec law gives you, including asking about and correcting your information, asking us to give you your information in a usable format or pass it to another organization, asking us to stop sharing it or to de-index it where Quebec law allows, and being told when a decision about you is made only by automated processing, with a chance to have a person review it.

Complaints

If you have a concern, tell us first and we'll look into it. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the privacy commissioner for Alberta, British Columbia or Quebec (Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec).

Children

Our site is not meant for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, but no system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Changes

We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date.
